CCC - Art House Matinee - Thank You For Smoking Thank You For Smoking at The Globe. Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart), the chief spokesman for Big Tobacco, makes his living defending the rights of smokers and cigarette makers. Confronted by health zealots out to ban tobacco and an opportunistic senator (William H. Macy) who wants to put poison labels on cigarette packs, Nick goes on a PR offensive, spinning away the dangers of cigarettes on TV talk shows and enlisting a Hollywood super-agent (Rob Lowe) to promote smoking in movies. Nick's newfound notoriety attracts the attention of both tobacco's head honcho (Robert Duvall) and an investigative reporter for an influential Washington daily (Katie Holmes). Nick says he is just doing what it takes to pay the mortgage, but he begins to think about how his work makes him look in the eyes of his young son Joey (Cameron Bright).
CCC - Cheese With Your Wine? A Tasting Experience Wine and cheese tasting evening! Everyone brings their choice of wine and cheese to share. A variety of crackers will be provided. Some really great wine, cheese, and people to share them with - a fantastic evening. I was particularly fond of the Castle Rock Pinot Noir that Doug C and I discovered a year ago, and the blue cheese (who'd a thought) and the cheese that Marc brought... what cheese was that again? I had a great time - thanks to everyone who came out. - Rhonda In your write up about last night you asked which cheese I brought; it was Taleggio. The server at Janice Beaton said that it came from the Lombardi region in northern Italy, but I never knew that before. (What do you call cheese that isn't yours? ...Nacho Cheese) - Marc
