CCC - Cantos Music Foundation Tour

When you tour through the Cantos Music Collection, you journey into our musical history. With over 200 instruments on display, the Collection spans the evolution of music from 246 B.C. to present day.

Among the pipe organs, clavichords, pianos, synthesizers, drum machines and related artifacts, is a one of a kind Johannes Couchet harpsichord from 1679, a Kimball Theatre Organ from 1924, an impressive variety of Moog electronic instruments, and a Mellotron similar to one used by the Beatles.

While the instruments are incredible to behold this is more than just a visual experience. A tour of the Collection Gallery is an interactive exploration into the sounds of the past. A celebration of music.

This is a fantastic tour - one not to be missed if you're a music lover. My absolute favorites are the enormous theatre organ with the air pipes leading to various boxes in which actual instruments are played/controlled from the one organ, and the Mellotron, which is played like a keyboard but plays back recordings of actual instruments, including a human choir - it just blows my mind to see a keyboard played sounding like a choir of voices singing. I also love the Theremin, which I've thought was really cool since Joel introduced me to it a few years ago.

CCC - Bonnie and Clyde and The Sting - Movie Nite

Two classics - we'll be showing "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) and "The Sting" (1973).

"Bonnie and Clyde" is one of the sixties' most talked-about, volatile, controversial crime/gangster films combining comedy, terror, love, and ferocious violence. It was produced by Warner Bros. - the studio responsible for the gangster films of the 1930s, and it seems appropriate that this innovative, revisionist film redefined and romanticized the crime/gangster genre and the depiction of screen violence forever.

In "The Sting", Paul Newman and Robert Redford star as two clever con artists who arrange an elaborate sting against a powerful crime lord who murdered their friend.

Make a plan for how to get home afterwards. If you're going to be drinking very much, no driving! You can bring a sleeping bag if you want, there's lots of room.

These were two great classics. Marc fell asleep at the tail end of the Sting,
some host eh? The snacks were great and many stayed for a while after the
movie to talk about the films and other stuff.
One speculation was that Clyde was gay, much to Bonnie's chagrin.
It is a plausible explanation for what was, (or more accurately wasn't), going on
between the two of them. I just thought he might have turned to violence out of frustration.
It sure is great to watch and discuss films with others.
