In this dismayingly snow-free winter, we are consoling ourselves with hiking when some of us (ok, me) would rather be snow shoeing. Prairie View Trail and Barrier Lookout are a pretty durned good substitute, though, when a substitute is called for. We had a beautiful day... it was VERY warm going up, and about halfway through the hike, it started getting colder and windier, but still very very nice (especially considering it's JANUARY). More than half the group went all the way up to Barrier Lookout, while the rest of us opted to stop for the day at the first open lookout over Barrier Lake. It's great to have options! :) -- Rhonda |
