THE FIRST OF THE FEW (aka Spitfire) (1942 UK)
March 9, 2006
Directed by Leslie Howard
Starring: Leslie Howard, David Niven
After winning numerous accolades for his achievements in designing monoplanes, Mitchell is convinced that he must design a new type of fighter plane after Hitler's ascend to power—the result was the titular craft that helped Britain defend its skies.

Founded in 1975 by former WWII pilots and aviation enthusiasts, the Aero Space Museum preserves and promotes the stories of people who contributed to the aviation and space industry in Western Canada. The museum celebrates the courageous spirit as the people behind the airplanes who soared above the earth and dared to reach for the sky.

This evening was a lot cooler than I expected it to be. We got there early enough that we were able to peruse the air museum, and the movie was played right there in the middle of the museum on a big screen TV with a few chairs aimed at it - in amongst all the cool old airplanes. The movie was super interesting, too - it was well done (made in '42) and the history lessons in it were really interesting.

I'll definitely be going back for more of these.
