This was a fantastic hike - I can see why it's a favorite for so many. We started off in sun and heat, trooping up the switchbacked verdant forest where you quickly gain most of your elevation gain for the day, ooh'ing and ah'ing over the Takkakaw Falls which were viewable across the valley for much of our day. Breaking out above the treeline, we continued along the ridge, until we turned a corner and BAM! The most amazing moonwalk-ey, Mayan ruin-esque rock meadow greeted us. To go along with the bizarre visual effects, we could clearly see the "lost city of Burgess" across the valley, nestled in between the two glaciers. Stripey entertained us throughout the hike by trying to push over dead trees, and rolling large rocks down the slope (he had a couple of really good ones).

As we trooped across/through the "meadow", it began to rain, and the gentle rain eventually became a torrential downpour, which started many of us back down early (although we'd completed most of the intended hike by that time). A couple of sketchy moments when Kelli and Marc's hair decided to stand on end with the electrical charge of impending lightning strike, but we prudently crouched down for it to pass and thankfully, no one was actually struck by lightning today.

Our carpool, six people in Marc's borrowed company SUV, enjoyed "Airplane" on the SUV's DVD player on the trip out, and "Envy" on the way back, topped off with a stop in Lake Louise for ice cream and coffee.
