2007-11-24 : CCC - Metro Asia Showcase
A trade show of Asian Fusian Culture: There's nothing quite like it!

Metro Asia Showcase is a spectacular event-filled exravaganza blending Far East ancient world virtues with contemporary Western practices. We call this special experience Asian Fusion. The themes for Metro Asia Showcase 2007 are designed around four Chinese philosophies: Happiness, Health, Home and Prosperity. It offers something for everyone, with ongoing cultural events and over 120 exhibits.

Experience the Orient Stage will feature cultural performances while educational presentations will be available in the Divine a Lifestyle Theatre. There will also be plenty to do, for example:
- Catch a ride in Pedicab Lane
- Interactive Sumo Suit Wrestling
- FlorAsia floral design contest
- Divine a Lifestyle Theatre topics such as Cooking, Feng Shui, Nutrition and Travels to Asia
- Experience the Orient Stage performances: Dragon Dance, Kendo, Tai Chi, etc.
This was quite a low-key but very enjoyable event. We started off at 10:30 with the dragon and lion dance, which was fantastic, and then walked around checking out the booths. There were a lot of travel and alternative health things, plus some furniture, food, textiles, etc. I bought some yummy Indian treats from the Calgary Sweet House booth. Look for a CCC Christmas dinner there to be posted soon!

Ah, I'm so glad we made it out to Ptarmigan before they closed the gate. It was as beautiful as I remember, although barely enough snow for snow shoeing today. We actually completed the loop at the top, which I've never done before in winter.

Well, The Hitmen lost 2-1 in overtime. Good game though.

The 7/Eleven tickets we initially got were pretty good in the lower bowl of the Saddledome. Thanks to Hashim and his inside connections for getting our seats promoted to President's seats between the blue lines.

2007-12-12 : CCC - Dinner at Calgary Sweet House (Indian)
Established in 1980, the Calgary Sweet house is one of the first Indian Sweet Houses in Alberta.

The Calgary Sweet House is famous world-wide for its Mithai (Sweets). They make all sweets at their store from only the choicest ingredients. Their Gulab Jamun, Jilabi, Koya Burfi, Milk Cake and Patissa are second to none.

In addition to sweets they make a wide range of Namkeen (spicy snacks) like Chevrah, Sev, and Ghatiya. Most of their products are made from "Chana Flour" (Chick Pea Flour). Chana flour is very nutritous and is a good alternative for people who have allergies to gluten (wheat flour). For vegetarians, they have a variety of peas and beans as a nutritious snack.

Calgary Sweet House invites you to try their renowned Butter Chicken, tasteful Samosa, full-bodied Chole and Tandoori- baked Naan. Other favorites include Naan Kebab, Lamb Biriani, Puri Chole, Daal Makhni and Tandoori Chicken.

Come and enjoy their simple, market atmosphere with no frills or fanfare.
The epitome of the perfect little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, the Calgary Sweet House was a most excellent experience this evening. The small family-run business normally closes at 7, but they stayed open for us this evening and treated us to some first-rate Indian food. Seriously, folks... this was the BEST butter chicken I've ever tasted, and I've tasted a few butter chickens in my day. Beware, though... it isn't called "butter" chicken for nothing... mmmmmmmmm... butter....

Some folks loaded up on sweets to take home after... and some folks loaded up on a few more sweets.... mmmmmmmmmmm.... sweets...
