It was a beautiful evening, and with the help of my trusty iPhone, I counted 27 meteors until I left at 1:45.

We headed in on the boardwalks, and eventually settled on two of the viewing platforms, splitting the group in half. The half on the one platform left at about 12:30, and the rest of us stayed until 1:45.

When we first headed out there was quite a bit of cloud cover, which I found disappointing. Of course, there was also the promised full moon, which was definitely a meteor spoiler. But, as like the other two times I've done this, we saw lots of meteors between 10:00 and 11:30 and not as many after that. I think part of it was that cloud cover earlier in the evening. It helped keep the glow of the moon down and we saw lots of great meteors - some of them great bright streaks across the sky. As the cloud cover cleared off, we thought that would help, but all it did was increase the glow from the spoiler moon. It was so bright you could almost read a book by it. It was absolutely beautiful, but it put a real damper on meteor viewing.

Thanks to everyone who came out – it was a wonderful event.
