Thanks to all who came out yesterday for the Prairie Sentinels making it the great day it was. The elevator tour was well above expectation. Aside from being informative and inspiring, I think all of us got a much greater sense of how much a part of our history these elevators really are. If you wish to keep up to date on the progress of the elevators go to nantonelevators.com. You can contact Mickey and Ken Currie from there as well. I was surprised and somewhat relieved at how the day’s events went off with out a hitch – I’ve never seen twenty people decide so quickly on what to eat. Clearly, at times, there’s something to be said for the “herd” mentality. The Lancaster Bomber and shameless display of indulgence in the candy store were bonuses. I’ll probably organize another trip to Nanton sometime in the spring or summer. Things to look out for: Frank slide Interpretive Center/ Leitch Collieries. This should be posted within the next couple of weeks. The Ghosts of Alberta’s past. If you have, a fuel efficient car, good map reading skills, an interest in staking out Ghost towns, and the will to co-coordinate let me know. I’ve got several leads already but could use the help. Again thanks to all who showed up yesterday. Cheers Doug
