What a fantastic early-season hike!! Definitely one that many of us would choose to do over again. A word to the wise, though - BRING YOUR ICERS.

I'm not entirely sure I believe the hike specs from the GemTrek map. It says 7.5km round trip, with 570m of elevation gain. Although we didn't go all the way to the top, there is absolutely no way we gained anywhere near that much elevation. The trail starts out pretty much flat, then starts a gentle incline, and then gets a little bit steeper until you reach the first viewpoint. From there, it's steeper still up to the top of the pass, but I can't see how we gained anywhere near as much elevation as we should have... I expected something like Prairie Mountain, but got something more like Powderface Creek (only shorter). In any case, it was a wonderful trip, and I highly recommend it, especially as an early or late season.
